This year Cayder have joined up with Nursing Times to launch a brand new category into the Nursing Times Awards. 'Technology and Data in Nursing' will recognise initiatives that have used technology and data in a truly innovative and patient-focused way to improve healthcare provision. This new category also looks to highlight the growing importance of technology in the everyday life of nursing.

The use of technology and data can transform the delivery of healthcare by making visible to healthcare providers data and metrics about their services in formats that can be interrogated in numerous ways, for example to evaluate effectiveness or analyse trends. This can increase understanding of outcomes and lead to improved care and/or increased efficiency. Those applying had to be able to demonstrate the benefits of their initiatives in terms of improved health outcomes, patient experience or service effectiveness. Such as:

Introducing technology to capture data that is accessible to all professionals and services involved in individual patients' care

Using existing technology in new ways to increase its benefits

Developing new ways of capturing data on patient outcomes or service effectiveness.

The Nursing Times Awards have been running for over 30 years and is the largest and most recognised annual celebration of nursing excellence. This year taking place on the 26th October at the Grosvenor House Hotel, the awards will bring together over 1,200 frontline staff, nurse managers, directors and the sectors great and good. These prestigious awards recognise outstanding teams and individuals, showcasing the superb innovations that are shaping and improving nurse-led care. The event also provides an invaluable opportunity to boost the morale of hard-working nurses who often go unrecognised.
